Washington State University 4-H Youth Development Seeking Host Families for Japanese Delegates

"Bring Home the World," by hosting a Japanese student this summer. Host families are now being encouraged to apply to welcome a Japanese youth, ages 12 - 16, into their home for four weeks in July and August, 2008. Japanese youth are eager to learn American customs, experience new surroundings, try different foods and take part in your family's daily life. They, in turn, will be delighted to introduce and share their culture and way of life with your family and friends.

The program is open to families with children close in age to the Japanese participants. Families will be interviewed and screened to ensure a safe, rewarding experience for all involved. The costs of hosting a student are minimal. Host families provide room and meals for their new family member, who is happy to share a room with their host sister or brother. Students bring their own spending money for souvenirs and special purchases, they have their own health insurance. If you are interested in learning more about hosting a Japanese youth or chaperon, contact Carol Beckman at 253.445.4623 or via email at beckmanc@wsu.edu.
